Description
The Three Musketeers (French: Les Trois Mousquetaires) is a historical novel by Alexandre Dumas (1802-1870). Set in 1625-1628, it recounts the adventures of a young man named d'Artagnan (based on Charles de Batz-Castelmore d'Artagnan) after he leaves home to travel to Paris, to join the Musketeers of the Guard. Although D'Artagnan is not able to join this elite corps immediately, he befriends the three most formidable musketeers of the age: Athos, Porthos and Aramis and gets involved in affairs of the state and court.

Condition
Fair, worn spine, on which the lettering is faded and the ends are frayed. The illustration to the front is scuffed, with a number of spots of lost color, but it is fairly good overall, with the lettering clearly legible. The binding has play to it, but both front and back covers are attached. The front inside cover spread has a personal bookplate and an ink stamp with the name of the same person. These have been blocked out in the photo, but not in the book. There is gift notation in the following page, dated 1931. There are no other stamps or writings. The pages are fairly good, with a small amount of stains, most prominently tanning (sunning) to the borders of and pages adjacent to the color illustrations. Most pages faces have no stains. All the text, and all illustrations, are unfaded. There are a small number of creases, but no notable tears. The binding is secure, with no loose or missing pages.
