A superb vintage signed 7.5 x 9.5 photograph of the director seated in a full length pose alongside a large Technicolour camera on the set of his film Under Capricorn (1949). Hitchcock holds one arm at length as he gives direction to his players and in the background the camera operator Paul Beeson can be seen. Signed ('Alfred J Hitchcock') by the director in bold, dark fountain pen ink with his name alone to a clear area of the image. About EX
Under Capricorn (1949) was the second of Hitchcock's movies to be made in Technicolour (the first being Rope, released a year earlier) and starred Ingrid Bergman, Joseph Cotton and Michael Wilding.
Hitchcock pioneered many elements of the suspense and psychological thriller genres over a career spanning more than half a century. Often regarded as the greatest British filmmaker, he came first in a 2007 poll of film critics in the Daily Telegraph. In 2002 the MovieMaker magazine named Hitchcock the most influential filmmaker of all time.
