NOTES
It has recently been brought to our attention that Christie's NY (2000) and Christie's Hong Kong (2003) had an almost identical pair of triple gourd porcelains as seen in the present lot.
For references to the Christie's sale of 21 SEPTEMBER 2000, please click here:
CHRISTIE'S NY, Fine Chinese Ceramics, Paintings and Works of Art, Lot 318 (Estimate: USD 50,000 - USD 70,000 / SOLD USD 138,000)

This same pair of vases were subsequently accepted by Christie's Hong Kong two years later and re-offered by them at a higher price, but they failed to reach the Reserve (Estimate: HK$1,800,000-2,200,000 / US$230,000-280,000). Please see pictures of the original 2003 HK catalog included herein.

In addition, for a very closely related pair of porcelains painted in the same style and colors, but attributed to the outstanding French porcelain maker Edmé Samson (1810-1891) of Paris, founder of Samson, Edmé et Cie. please see:
Christie's New York, The Opulent Eye, 9 June 2014, Lot 303 (SOLD USD 37,500).
