The supplement, present here, was issued in 1787. A beautifully illustrated study of quadrupeds, birds, reptiles, fish and insects of the northern parts of America, Europe and Asia, including the Arctic and Subarctic regions of Canada. In compiling the work, Pennant relied on contemporary authorities, as he did not personally conduct field studies. He records the latest geographical discoveries on his maps, including information on Hearne, whose Coppermine River discoveries are shown on Pennant's map three years prior to the release of Hearne's Journey... (1795) and Alexander Mackenzie's Voyages... whose river expedition from Great Slave Lake to the Arctic Ocean is depicted as "New River According to McKenzie [sic]" which is shown nine years before the publication of Mackenzie's book in 1801.
