The first publication of these documents, describing the Spanish expedition into West Florida led by Don Tristan de Luna and supervised by Don Luis de Velasco, the Viceroy of New Spain. Luna's expedition ultimately failed, but it foreshadowed future Spanish colonization of Florida. The documents include much correspondence between Luna and Velasco, descriptions of the expedition, and the charges and countercharges over who was to blame for its failure.
