Browntone gelatin silver photograph. 29x18 cm (11Ā½x7"), framed under glass.
The young woman is standing next to a 1910 Detroit Electric Model D Brougham. On the back of the frame is mounted an old slip of paper with the following description: "1910, Marcia Stull Serfey Weaver, 18 years old with one of the 1st three Electric Cars in L.A. A gift from her grandfather & grandmother who lived in Hollywood, Ca." Detroit Electrics were made by the Anderson Carriage Company. The car cost $2,397 at the time, the equivalent of $135,881 today. Complete and unrestored car was sold in 2013 auction for $55,000. Better to buy T-bills.
Condition
Some wear, not examined out of frame, about very good, sold as is.
