Spear Thrower weapon - unique for the Island of Papua New Guinea. Known as a Sipia, Gopsalong and Sipir, depending on the tribe. Would be used to lauch long wooden spears using a very soecific technique developed over centuries by the tribesmen, hunters and warriors. Original antique tribal artifact. All handcrafted from a single piece of bamboo wood, with basket weave fittings. Carved tropical wooden guide. Late 1800's/early 1900's. Sepik River tribes, Papua New Guinea.
