CARVED OAK MONK'S BENCH, LATE 19TH/EARLY 20TH C., H 30", W 20", L 41":English oak monk's bench table. Late 19th or early 20th century. The top having foliated-carved banding, folding back to form a bench with a left top seat. The back rest carved with the House of Beaufort coat-of-arms and motto "Mutare vel timere spemo" ("I scorn to change or to fear"), raised above lift-top bench opening to storage, and with foliate-carved panels to sides.
Condition
Wear and marks throughout consistent with age and use.
