Pair of Louis XVI-Style Polychrome Fauteuils, late 19th century, each with a padded shield-form back surmounted by a ribband and torchere crest and flanked by fluted uprights, joined by padded arms to the like seat, raised on stop-fluted tapering circular legs ending in peg feet, h. 37".
Condition
In overall very good condition. Both chairs are solid and tight at the glue joints. Both exhibit normal wear, abrasions and indications of age and use, most notably some losses to the polychromy. The upholstery is in generally quite good condition; free of tears, major stains or rips. One chair exhibits somewhat more wear than the other, with notable wear on the top of one armrest, a few small stains of about 1/4" in diameter, and slight wrinkling at the top edge of the back, and slight looseness of the gimp and possibly the fabric top center.
