English Oak Mule Chest, late 18th century, the hinged rectangular top opening to a void interior, above a conforming case fitted with graduated faux drawers over two long graduated faux drawers with a single drawer below, all drawers bi-paneled and with molded banding, raised on block feet, h. 37", w. 40-1/4", d. 22-1/2".

Typical shrinkage cracks to top, with minor losses at back edge; one minor strip of wood is a later replacement. Brasses are old but not period. Escutcheons are early 19th century. Good, old patina to surface, with lower left drawer front cleaned more than the rest. Originally with single post or cotter pin pulls. Molding missing on upper left "drawer" front. Feet with losses commensurate to age but likely original.
