This charming portrait dates from the late 1800's and is signed with the initials A.B.P. The girl is wearing several strands of gold chain, and her loose, embroidered blouse appears to be of Eastern European origin, perhaps Ukrainian. The artist has posed her to project an air of security and entitlement, like a little princess! The painting is 16.25" x 13.25", oil on canvas. It has been cleaned and restored, and re-stretched onto the original wooden stretcher bars which have ADS metal corners patented in 1886. (See the photo) It is presented in the frame it was found in, which seems to date from around 1890-1910. The frame has some distressed parts but is quite attractive with the portrait.
