Description
Ulmann's most enduring photographs, with tributes from musician and folklorist John Jacob Niles and Jonathan Williams. From Jonathan William's lively and warmly-written, as always, front flap: "If the images of Mrs. Bird Patten, Chever Meaders, Ella Webster, Covey Odom, Aunt Cord Ritchi, Haden Hensley, Wilma Creech, Aunt Lou Kitchen, the Meulungeon Boys, and the others do not move you, then it's a cold day in hell and it's too wet to plough....The Jargon Society is proud to present a fabulous and simple book. 'Well, friend, have a seat and stay all night--I'm tickled to death, I am,' that's more or less when one of our mountain friends would say. I would try to add: take your ease, unlax from the top."
