Height: 5 ¼ excluding base
Allan Houser, also known by his Apache name "Haozous," is considered the father of contemporary American Indian sculpture. Houser's grandfather was the chief who served as Geronimo's English translator. Trained at the Santa Fe Indian Art School, Houser went on to a highly successful career as a sculptor and muralist - receiving a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1949. He returned shortly thereafter to teach art at the Indian School, instilling his experience and knowledge in the next generation of artists.
