Oils on canvas. Displays a seascape - an engagement between American Naval battleships. Signed MARGESON lower right. Painted by prominent Canadian-American marine painter Gilbert Tucker Margeson (1852-1949), born in Nova Scotia but later relocated to New England and Massacussetts. He was known as the Dean of the Rockport Colony, as he was a long-time member of the Rockport Artist Association and in 1873, became the first artist to set up a studio in Rockport on the eastern shore of Cape Ann. He exhibited throughout the USA. Gilt wooden frame.
