Description
Africa, Mali/Niger, Bura-Asinda-Sikka culture, ca. 3rd to 11th centuries CE. Large and very well made lid to a pottery urn. Bell-shaped base with abstract human head on top, small appendages on the side of the vessel. Rare to find this nice! Size: 6.75" W x 12.875" H (17.1 cm x 32.7 cm)
Provenance: Ex-private Peter Arnovick collection, Los Altos, CA. Mr. Arnovick was a collector and dealer of ancient and ethnographic cultures.
