Description
Thomas Jefferson: 1801 Inaugural Address Silk Broadside. "The Inaugural Speech of Thomas Jefferson" delivered in Washington, D.C. on March 4, 1801 in the Senate Chamber. Two columns of type separated by a decorative, vertical rule. Signed in type at bottom "Thomas Jefferson". No printer's name. Measures 15" x 20 2/4" [sight], handsomely matted and framed. Previously folded in sixteenths with resultant loss at folds, as shown, with minor foxing at top. Professionally restored (cleaned, properly aligned, dry mounted to silk, sewn to fabric support, stretched over foam core backing). A CD containing the conservator's report will accompany the item. The silk is quite bright and the fold lines are no longer visible. A rare artifact associated with a Founding Father and author of the Declaration of Independence.
