Vol II reproduces drawings by John White and book illustrations, including land and aquatic animals (mostly New World), maps, and Native Americans. JohnIn 1587, John White headed a group of 115 Englishmen to establish a colony on the Chesapeake Bay and to make contact with the Roanoke colony. At Roanoke, the ruins of the village contained no living residents. The captain of the ships did not allow John White or any of the colonists to get back on board, so they reestablished their colony at the original settlement of Roanoke. White was governor of the colony until late 1587, when he returned to England in an unsuccessful attempt to send supplies to the colony. 14.6 Lb.
