[350-page editions with the same printer’s credit were published London: Longman, Hurst, Rees, and Orme, 1809-1812.] 8vo. [dedication], [blank verso], [11]-350pp, lacking title leaf, engr title, and a leaf that would begin "The Poem, now offered to the Public..." 8vo. Contemp half leather, spine perished, covers and first few leaves separated, foxed, occasional light pencil marginalia, minor wear to edges of first leaves.
Signed by Walter Scott below the printed text of dedication page. Pencil ownership at top of dedication page: "Alfred de Groot." Same printed ownership label ("Alfred Degroot") on inserted leaf. There is no indication of who owned this copy before De Groot, but the dedication (printed) is “To the Right Honourable Earl of Dalkeith” (Charles William Henry Montagu-Scott). Charles Montagu-Scott, Earl of Dalkeith, named his son “Walter,” presumably in honor of the author Walter Scott. 1.0 Lb.
