c. 1796 Federal Period, George Washington Stipple Engraving, by Bonneville and Ruotee, sculp., Paris, France, Listed as Commander in Chief of the Army and President of the American Congress, Very Fine.
This very rare original Engraving measures 5.5” x 7.25” having been slightly trimmed along the bottom edge and has a light angled vertical crease within the heavy paper stock. It features a large central oval profile Portrait of General Washington shown in his dress military uniform. Below the image it is entitled: “G. Washington. - Ne’en Virginie annee 1733. - Commendant en Chef Des Armees - et President Du Congres’ dAmerique.” The very first example of this rare handsome original Engraving we have offered. Listed as Hart 172.
