Description
Pre-Columbian, Columbia, Narino culture, ca. 850-1500 CE. Seated on a bench, this figure gazes upward with coca leaves in his right cheek, holds his hands to his knees, and donsan ornately decorated sash over his left shoulder. All is burnished red with black designs. His dramatic facial expression perhaps reflecting his hallucinatory state is accentuated by the stylized upside-down black triangles painted beneath his prominent eyes. 9"T x 5 1/4"W x 4 1/4"D Provenance: Ex-Gilbert Martin Collection, Georgia, USA

Tiny chip at right nostril and expected surface wear. Else intact and excellent.
