LICIO ZANETTI MURANO ART GLASS LEAPING DOLPHIN: Murano, Italy, Licio Zanetti (20th - 21st c, Italy) depicting a dolphin fish leaping out for the water, engraved signature on the base, 12"h x 12"l x 6"w. BIOGRAPHY: The Zanetti Vetreria Artistica was founded in 1956 by the glassmaster Oscar Zanetti and his son Licio. The furnace quickly distinguished itself for the artistic quality of master Licio Zanetti’s glass sculptures, and soon took its place among the most prestigious companies on Murano. In 1989 master Licio Zanetti stepped down in favor of his son Oscar (named after his grandfather), who had been working by his side since his youth. From his father he inherited his artistic talent, which he learned to express through the ancient glass techniques of Murano as well as through new techniques invented in the furnace itself. His predilection for naturalistic subjects is reflected in a lively collection inspired by the flora and fauna of his beloved Venetian Lagoon : blown or massive glass objects, all executed rigorously by hand, in the best tradition of the great masters of Murano. PROVENANCE: From the mass international collection of the living estate of a former Executive for Levi Strauss International, who traveled the world for the firm buying and shipping denim before retirement and as a Broker of Real Estate in San Francisco, Maine and Florida. He received a B.A. from the University of Omaha, and remains a lead Donor of their Alumni Association today; he earned his Master's Degree at Ohio State where he served on the Dean's Staff. He was a Vice-President, 3-term President and served on the Board of Directors for the Lee Memorial Auxiliary. He was a Director on the Board for the Fort Myers Community Concert Association and Sponsor of Southwest Florida Symphony. He is also the Benefactor of Healthcare Educational and Endowment Grants - with a specific generosity for patients of HIV/AIDS, healthcare workers and takes time to volunteer for the sick and under-privileged.
