An important flintlock pistol from the property of a French Prince, dating: first quarter of the 18th Century, provenance: Paris, dating: first quarter of the 18th Century, provenance: Paris, Long, smooth, four-stage, 15 mm cal. barrel, octagonal at the first part and featuring the 'BERTIG' stamp under crown between two heart-shaped stamps with arrows, all brass-inlaid; after a sixteen-side part is a round segment, all finely engraved with trophies and floral motifs, the last segment is round and with silver foresight; engraved tang; flintlock signed 'CHASTEAU A PARIS', engraved with trophies and floral motifs; slightly-sculpted, wooden full stock (small missing parts) and with steel mounts with engravings; the counter-plate with a cannon position and trophies, trigger guard with floral motifs; butt-plate with bands and a beautiful mask, finely carved in bas-relief; provided with a noble coat of arms undercrown at the back, surrounded by three chains, among them the one of the Saint Spirit Order (France)., length 54.5 cm.
