Description
Wilcox Silver Plate Company (Meriden, Connecticut, founded 1865), fourth quarter 19th century. A Victorian ladies garniture vanity set having three pieces of hand painted Continental Bristol white opaline glass comprising two scent bottles and a central powder box fitted in a quadruple plate stand, the holders supported by hands issuing acorn and oak leaves, mounted on a rectangular base with canted sides raised on four ball feet. Engraved to the front of stand "H. to W". Underside with maker's mark "WILCOX SILVER PLATE CO" surrounding crossed hammers, "QUADRUPLE PLATE" around top and pattern number "1764". Scent bottles numbered underside polished pontil "5" and "6". Approximate height 11.5", width 10", depth 3.75".
