Mid 19th century, 48 x 120 cm, Central Asia, West Turkestan

In this large torba by the Tekke tribe, twelve primary güls with cruciform centres are interspersed with chemche secondary güls in a brown-red field. The main border contains kochak hook designs. The very fine weave allows a detailed and extremely precise rendition of the design. – The kilim finish is missing at the top; outstanding overall condition, complete with the lower fringe.
