Description
The late Victorian and early 20th century brooches. The first designed as a 9ct gold late Victorian red gem and split pearl marquise-shape brooch, the second designed as an Edwardian 15ct gold diamond and ruby brooch with scrolling sides and rope-twist highlights, the third designed as an early 20th century 9ct gold purple paste foliate bar brooch. One AF. Two with hallmarks for Chester, 1899 and Birmingham, 1902. Lengths 4.5 to 5.1cms. Total weight 8.6gms.
Condition
  • Overall condition fair. Surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and dents in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Possible replacement pins.
  • Localised areas of dents and damage to all three.
  • One brooch with more significant discolouration and is bent out of shape.
  • Split pearls with a cream body colour and chalky lustre, significant nacre damage.
  • Estimated total diamond weight under 0.10ct.

  • Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.

  • Rubies medium pinkish-red, fairly well saturated, with good clarity and typical inclusions.

  • Stones in good condition with minor abrasions.

  • One stamped 9ct.
