Description
1- The Lionel 1033 Transformer was one of the more reliable transformers that Lionel produced during the Post War period. Available from 1948 until 1956, it generated 90 Watts of power and has a built-in circuit breaker. The ORANGE handle controls the horn/whistle circuit and the direction of the train. There are no variations. 2- The Lionel KW Transformer was produced from 1950 until 1965. It generated 190 watts of power that could control two separate trains. It has an independent fixed 14 volt circuit for accessories, a built-in circuit breaker that triggers the red light on top when activated, and the ORANGE handle activates the horn/whistle circuit. 3- The Lionel TW Transformer was produced from 1953 until 1960. It generated 175 Watts of power. This transformer is unique among all of those that Lionel made during the Post War period because it has an independent power source for the constant voltage accessory circuits that is completely separate from the main coil that controls the variable voltage circuit. 4- The Lionel Type R Transformer was available in 1946 and 1947. It produced 110 Watts on two independent circuits each producing 6-24 Volts. This transformer did not have a built-in whistle or directional control and is used in conjunction with the No. 167 Whistle Controller that added these features. A great lot for the collector or dealer. Weight on all is 25 pounds. PROVENANCE: A Charleston SC Private Estate.
