Description
The vintage weapon with a short curved Damascene steel blade with heavy wave patterns, the silver guard engraved on one side with an eagle head, on the other with an armorial arm in armor, embowed, holding an annulet, both images surrounded by oak leaves, referencing Yggdrasil, the sacred “world tree” of Norse mythology, the handle an extended raptor claw, the whole contained in a hand-sewn silver-mounted leather sheath with silver tip and collar similarly decorated with oak leaves, the collar set with a red tourmaline, further with the date of 1923 and a proto-Germanic runic inscription asking for wealth and invoking the Norse war god Týr, associated with heroic glory and combat in mythology; his rune was commonly used by Germanic neo-pagans to symbolize veneration of his prowess. Dagger: 12" L; in sheath: 12.5" L.
