Description
An Uzbek flat weave or kilim, from Central Asia, woven in long strips that are then cut and sewn together to form a floor covering. This is a traditional manner of weaving among the Uzbeks of Central Asia. The designs are "typical" of this type, often referred to as "Gajari", which refers to the technique of weaving, a brocade type weave with the dyed warps hanging loose on the back and brought to the front when necessary to make the design (see final detail image). The condition is good with no holes or repairs. Note that there is a small section that has been sewn into the end of one long strip - this was done in Central Asia and is original to it.The colors are all seemingly derived from natural dyes SIZE - 5'8" x 6'8"
