Description
2nd-4th century AD. A bronze cuboid die with two opposed faces bearing six small ring-and-dot motifs, and the remaining four bearing a large central concentric rings motif and a ring-and-dot to each corner. 29 grams, 15mm (1/2"). From a German collection; acquired on the German art market before 1990. The die was evidently not used singly as modern dice are. Possibly it formed part of a set with other numerals, or was used in a game where only certain scores were significant. [No Reserve]
