1st century BC-1st century AD. An openwork gold hoop formed as two serpents with addorsed head, Hercules knot and looped tails, zigzag and pellet detailing. Cf. Marshall, F.H. Catalogue of the Finger Rings, Greek, Etruscan and Roman, in the Department of Antiquities, British Museum, London, 1907, item 241 for type. 17 grams, 35mm overall, 19.63mm internal diameter (approximate size British T, USA 9 3/4, Europe 21.67, Japan 20) (1 1/2"). From an old Munich collection; acquired on the German art market before 2000. [No Reserve]
