Description
Imari Porcelain Footed Bowl, 19th c., with a floral decorated interior border around a central flower and leaves, the exterior with gilt, orange and blue floral and leaf decoration, on a carved hardwood stand, H.- 3 3/4 in., Dia.- 9 1/4 in. Provenance: The Estate of James C. Westerfield, Jackson, Mississippi.
Condition
Condition consistent with age and use. Yellow discoloration to half of the bowl, especially the interior along apparent repairs (one approximate 10 inch semi-circular break and another 3 inch vertical crack). Slight flaking around the repairs. A pea-size loss to the leaf decoration in the center. Scattered soiling throughout. Several pea-size brown spots around one flower on the exterior. A pea-size chip in the bottom edge. Light wear to the rim. Several raised firing flaws. Heavy wear to the gilt in the center. A delightful example.
