Description
Chinese Porcelain Famille Rose Punch Bowl, 19th c., the wide rim with floral, bat, butterfly and bird decoration, over an interior with panel decoration of interior scenes, birds, flowers and butterfly decoration, with old stapled repairs, H.- 4 3/4 in., Dia.- 16 in. Provenance: The Estate of James C. Westerfield, Jackson, Mississippi.
Condition
As found. Heavy wear to bottom of interior. Semicircular break around half of the bowl, with a vertical crack in the center. Apparent repair to the breaks with 23 staples. Several pea-size chips along the crack. Copper residue next to staples and in cracks. Rectangular shape hairline crack on the bottom. An approximate ½ inch area of brown residue on the rim. Light wear through the rest of the painted decoration, especially on the gilt rim. A lovely piece.
