This stunning rug contains a prominent ornate red, gold, ivory, brown and blue large floral pattern on a deep red field. Cascading flowers and palmate leaves and vines extend all over the rug. Made of naturally veg dyed wool on cotton foundation. Sarouk or Saruk is a small province north of Sultanabad in west Persia. Farahan were woven in the village of Sarouk but carpets given the name Farahan are of a distinct and exceptional type. These antique oriental rugs were made over a period of one hundred years beginning in the mid 18th century.
