Description
Rare marked example of a flame painted Ceramic Flame Company vase, the last iteration of work by Theophilus Brouwer, done between 1927 and 1932. The inward tapering vase is in shades of gold, yellow and rose with a slight bit of iridescence. Marked with printed label reading Ceramic Flame Co. Westhampton Beach New York and incised Flame nearby. Paul Evans notes in his Art Pottery of the United States on page 176 that Marked ware of the Ceramic Flame Company is unknown. At least until now. Height is 6 3/8 inches. Restoration to small rim chip and fine overall crazing.
