French, circa 1931. The Stradivox gramophone (from Stradivarius) was made in Mirecourt at the Laberte and Magnie Factories who were a father and son manufacturer of stringed musical instruments; violins, cellos, mandolins, etc. These portable gramophones were known as the best made at the time due to the quality of the wood. Box is well-rounded, seamless and sheathed in simulated blue-black leather with laced handed cover. Handmade, numbered 47 and signed "Magnie". This model is also stamped Grand Prix winning the grand price of the Colonial Exhibition of Paris in 1931. Very limited quantity of these gramophones were made. Approximate height of box 6", width 13.75", depth 11.12".
