Description
Two celluloid pinback halftone portrait buttons depicting T.R.in his Colonel's field uniform in a bust-length pose. Comprises: 1.) 1-3/4" diameter button with colorful U.S. flag in background and an incomplete charm "cuff" suspended from a loop at bottom of button. Retains story printed on back paper prefaced "You Can't Stop Teddy's Luck" and titled "The Rabbit's Foot Charm," in full "This Rabbit was killed at midnight in the dark of the full moon, on the grave of a cross-eyed Spaniard, on San Juan Hill, Cuba." Rabbit's foot not present. 2.) 1-1/8" diameter button with legend at top "Our Teddy For Our Governor." Bears a brass bezel contained within a parcel-gilt ornate surround overall 1-1/2" diameter]. Retains National Equipment Co. [New York] back paper.
Condition
Both exhibit light toning. 1-3/4" button missing rabbit's foot.
