Description
early 18th century. having rare gesso and sang de boeuf, the table exhibits very early surface and retains what is very likely the original marble top with uncommon dark mottled striation. H27 ¾" W26 ¼" D20" Note: The table is accompanied by its original sale receipt from David Stockwell, Inc Barley Mill House Wilmington, Delaware. According to the provenance provided by David Stockwell, Inc on the receipt the table was discovered in County Kildare, Ireland and dates to 1715-1720.
Condition
Good overall condition. Some shrinkage at joints as seen in photographs but table is very sturdy and solid. Top appears to be original to the table and shows good color age and form the the edges. No restoration to legs or feet detected. Shell carving is in good condition. One foot having repair as seen in photograph. Gessoed surface is consistent and good overall.
