Description
circa 1800, by Jacob Super of Philadelphia. excellent form having a brilliant figured mahogany top leading to figured-maple case having elegant banding with inlaid escutcheons resting atop four slightly tapered inlaid and flared legs. H28 ½ W24 ½ D14 ½ Note: From a private Camden, South Carolina family collection. The piece is accompanied by its original receipt and description from David Stockwell, Inc, Barley Mill House Wilmington, Delaware. This description reads that this stand was purchased from Bessey Super Hunter who inherited it from her great great grandfather cabinet maker Jacob Super of the firm of Super and Fritz at 164 North Front Street in 1803. Also accompanied by the original gallery photograph.
Condition
Good condition overall. Several small patches as seen in photographs. Top is original legs have no repairs and surface is a very good and even finish overall with some slight sun fading consistent with use and age. Some slight shrinkage also consistent with age.
