Patinated bronze sculpture after Pierre-Denis Plumier (Flemish, 1688-1722), late 19th or early 20th century, titled 'Dieu Fleuve Allonge' L'Escaut' (a river god laying along the Scheldt), depicting a reclining semi-nude god wearing a laurel wreath, holding an oar and sitting next to an overturned jar of flowing water, the figure rests on a naturalistic base, surmounting a cream and rouge marble plinth, and rising on a later gilt metal plinth with a gadrooned edge, signed lower right Plumier, 19.25"h x 23"w x 12"d.
