Description
Pure copper is very unusual as it was virtually always alloyed with tin or zinc to make bronze or brass. Vikings were expert metallurgists and the use of the unalloyed element here likely had spiritual significance. Rings were exchanged at Viking weddings on the pommel of the groom's sword.
