Description
Afro Celotto (Italian, 1963-), "Avito", 2011. A large, vertically oriented cased and blown glass sculpture likely from the Roman Empire series I or II, and titled after the Roman emperor Marcus Flavius Maecilius Eparchius Avitus (ruled 455-457 CE), with an organic tapering form, with opaque multicolored stripes, murrina inserts, and white filigree. Etched "Murano" with signature and date to underside, with applied glass name plaque to side, accompanied by certificate of authenticity. Approximate height 50.25", width 10", depth 6".
Condition
Some shelf wear to base. Some light smudging and surface scratching. No other visible signs of damage or repair.
