Chinese wooden painted head pillow depicting Asian child kneeling. Opium pillow from the Prince Faisal Estate. Chinese, Qing Dynasty, 19th century. A polychrome lacquered large and heavy carved wood altar figure modeled as a monk kneeling or crouching resting on arms and legs with offering bowl clasped between hands under smiling upturned face under bulbous bald head flanked by large ears, the figure lacquered with red robe and orange pants with the Chinese symbol meaning to beg or beseech inscribed in black to his back, also with further black calligraphic marks to the exposed underside of each foot. Approximate height 13.25", width 13", depth 24.25".
