Nineteenth century photograph from a family collection. This photograph, whose subject is wearing some type of uniform and labeled Father, is inside a boxed frame, called a union case in its day. The case, of light-weight wood covered in embossed leather, is in fairly good shape; its main issue is some tearing of the outside hinge. But the red fabric lining and the ornate brass frame over the glassed-in photograph inside the case are well preserved, and the little brass hook closure still works perfectly. It measures about 3 by 3.25 inches.
