Description
A North African orange-ware bowl depicting fish and dolphin in relief around the rim, c. 3rd - 4th Century AD, with low ring base, steep walls and a wide, flat rim with grooved edges. The molded elements are nicely detailed. H: 1 1/3 in (3.5cm), D: 4 3/4 in (12.1cm). Intact, some surface pitting and the loss on one of the molded elements on the rim. Ex Collection of the late Simon John Noble, Ardkinglas, Loch Fyne. He was both the laird of Ardkinglas estate and the founder of Loch Fyne Oysters and Loch Fyne restaurants.
