Description
Made by Mechanical Novelty Works New Britain, Connecticut - Circa 1880 Like the squirrel who saves acorns in a hollowed out tree stump, the child who saves pennies will turn them into dollars and therefore, never go hungry, nor “want” for anything. Lessons teaching children the virtue of thrift and economy were ever-present in Victorian society. Place a coin in the squirrel’s acorn and press the lever. The squirrel goes forward depositing the coins into the stump. A superior example of this charming bank. Material: Cast Iron
