Description
Ives, Blakeslee Company Bridgeport, Connecticut - Circa 1890 Without a doubt, this jovial Santa Claus bank is prized as one of the most beautiful cast iron still banks ever produced. Santa appears to be bristling with excitement. Burdened with toys in both hands and even popping from his pockets, Santa is overjoyed to be able to deliver happiness to so many children. He has toy violins and pop guns, dolls, puppets and what appears to be a toy bust bank. Typically, these banks are finished with a japanned wash or a copper flashed surface. Very, very few specimens are known to exist executed with a deluxe multi-colored finish. This is an absolutely sublime example of the bank, possibly the finest in existence.
