Description
Central Asia, Russian Steppes, Scythian, ca. 5th to 4th century BCE. A fabulous bronze attachment depicting a running deer in a quintessentially Scythian manner. Note the graceful, fluid motion of the deer, legs folded under the running body, and those intricately delineated antlers above his long ear which flaps behind as he moves forward. A fine example with well-executed openwork, elegant lines, gorgeous green patina, and a wonderful sense of kinetic energy! Custom stand. Size: bronze attachment measures 4.125" L x 2" H (10.5 cm x 5.1 cm); 3.5" H (8.9 cm) on stand.
