Framed serigraph in colors after a painting by Canadian artist A. J. Casson (Alfred Joseph Casson 1898-1992). The landscape was used as an advertising picture by the Canadian Pacific Railway, Montreal. Signed in the plate lower right. Measures 30" x 40". Framed measurement 34.75" x 44.75". Identification stamp on the verso, see photo. CONDITION NOTE: nick and some faint scratching, see photos.
HISTORY NOTE: Casson was a member of the Canadian group of artists known as the Group of Seven. He joined the group in 1926 at the invitation of Franklin Carmichael. Casson is best known for his depictions of landscapes, forests and farms of southern Ontario, and for being the youngest member of the Group of Seven.
