This copy belonged to an avid sportsman, Hamilton Cooper, who has inscribed his name along with a four line quotation form Gay's fables abut "the Raging Dog" on the front flyleaf. In addition, in 24 places throughout the text he has added comments, annotations, and one recipe (woodchuck pie), along with a long anecdote about netting partridges on the rear blank. There are also two additional annotations in another hand. An interesting copy. Binding in near fine condition. 1855. Second Edition.
