Clovis Edmond Masson (1838 - 1913) Bronze sculpture of a Lion. Height: 18 in. Width: 16 in. Weight: 45 lbs. Signed near base. "B. Patrouilleau, Edit Paris" Clovis Edmond Masson was born in Paris on March 7, 1838 and died in 1913. Masson was a French animal sculptor. Clovis Masson was a pupil of the French sculptor Antoine-Louis Barye. He specialized on animal representation. He used most often material like plaster, wax, or bronze. From 1867 he exhibited regularly at the Salon Paris until 1881. He directed more than fifty works until 1909. Nîmes has several sculptures of the artist in his municipal museum.
